Problem Solving

From the boxed set “Zen Cards” by Daniel Levin:

The way to remove darkness from a room is simply to turn on the light. In the same way, to rid yourself of any difficulty, concentrate on the solution rather than the problem.

Circular thinking or mind-grinding focuses on the problem, over and over and over again. It is redundant, like that last sentence.

Concentrating on finding the solution by brainstorming with others, making lists, collecting information, etc. creates a path out of the problem.

This takes practice, especially if circular thinking has been your habit most of your life. Remember that practicing can be frustrating but it actually creates new neural pathways in the brain and will eventually bring a new way of thinking that is easier and more productive. The goal is not perfection; the goal is progress. It is your path to peace.

Namaste.
